The "Markets in Financial Instruments Directive" (MiFID) has been applicable EU-wide since 1 November 2007 and comprises a comprehensive set of regulations for the financial sector. The aim of this directive is to increase transparency for all market participants, provide greater protection for investors and promote cross-border competition.
